Fall Safaris 2005
Greetings friends,

After a wonderful summer including studies, ministry, writing, and vacation, we're ready to launch into an active Fall BUT BEFORE WE DO, we want to pause and say a Thank You - for your prayers, your interest in us, and your financial support. Special gratitude to our Summertime donors. Summer is often a tough time to maintain consistent support, so a special thank you to those who have generously stayed with us.

Safaris: in the East African trade language, Swahili, the word "safari" simply means 'journey'. This letter is about our upcoming safaris, journeys into various ministries and locales for which we'd like to request your prayers. If you go on a photographic animal "safari" in Kenya, you go out looking for the "BIG 5" - Elephant, Rhino, Lion, Leopard and Cape Buffalo - so in keeping with the "safari" theme, we chosen our own BIG FIVE prayer requests:

#1) STUDIES AND SCHOOLING: the Fall pace includes four courses for Christie as she resumes her full-time studies at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Paul teaches one course at Gordon College, and he continues work on his dissertation. Please pray for diligence.

#2) RUSSIA: September 8-17 - Development Associates International Ministry Center Directors and Senior Consultants will be meeting in St. Petersburg, Russia. Our ministry is facing many new exciting growth opportunities. Please pray for God's guidance in our strategic planning.

#3) SRI LANKA: teaching at Lanka Bible College October 26-November 5. Paul returns to teach a course in leadership at the Lanka Bible College as well as to visit with many Colombo-based ministry friends. This is the first post-tsunami trip for either of us, so please pray for wisdom in how to encourage and equip these leaders.

#4) NE INDIA (Shillong): DAI/Mission Conference November 13-22. Joining together with DAI associates James Das (India), Reuben Ezemadu (Nigeria), and Cindy Perry (Nepal/Himalayas), Paul will be one of several plenary speakers at a conference on missions for young people coming from across northeast India. Please pray that many young people will sense God's direction to go out to those who have never had an opportunity to respond to Jesus Christ.

# 5) OVERALL TRAVEL SCHEDULE is typically busy for the Fall - involving not only these international trips, but also North American travel to Ohio, Florida, Colorado, Arizona, Connecticut, Michigan, California, and Indiana. Regarding travels, please pray for effective preparation, the ability to connect with each new group and ongoing health and safety.

Our full travel schedule (with specific dates and locations) can be found on our website at --- http://www.borthwicks.org/travel.html

Thanks for your partnership. We greatly value your interest, prayers, and financial support.

In Christ's service,

Paul & Christie
